Fire shooting out of all four exhaust tips from Dietrich's MV Agusta
Fire at the Hockenheimring !
ROPA Stahl (one of the main sponsors of the RoPa Racing team) invited
customers, partners and friends to the Hockenheimring. The goal was to
provide something very special: 2 days of racing in a paddock!
Of course many people took us up on the invitation. Even 10 riders parked
their motorcycles (many types and brands) next to the racing bikes of the
team, and went out on the track with us.
The weekend came with a lot of highlights; for instance a couple of lucky
people were given rides in a Porsche race car on the track!!
...back to the track with us. The Hockenheimring is not part of the ESC
(European Speer Cup) and therefore there were no races, just pure
practice. A lot of riders with minimal experience on the track caused
more than one critical situation for all of us. Luckily there were no
incidents.
At Hockenheim there is a noise limit of 100 DB. Most of us were forced to put
our DB Killers in the exhaust (to restrict air flow, thereby reducing noise) or,
as Dietrich did, re-mount the original exhaust. What happens when your race bike
pushes too much fuel through the engine but the exhaust isn't big enough to push
all the exhaust back out? You can see it on this unbelievable picture,
taken from Steve's Ducati 916 SPS at the end of the very, very long, full
throttle Parabolika, after hard breaking from 260 km/h down to 60 km/h!!
You can have a even better look at this if you watch our video lap
from Hockenheim.
Enjoy!!!!
