The new Flags
.... and finally... the
Season starts NOW !!!!
Not for the European Speer Cup (ESC) nor for Dietrich, who will have to wait
until May, but Speer and the RoPa Racing Team went to Barcelona to test the
first race track as well as all the new toys.
Not only the tent, the flags, the sponsors, myriads of changes on the bikes,
etc., were new but more importantly.... the season was new too. There were much
more accidents on the track and the team started out riding carefully.
The weather was as it has to be when the RoPa Racing Team is on the track =
SUNSHINE.
Andy started more or less from the beginning after having a year with no
motocycle underneath him (due to his skiing "adventures"). Steve had to break in
his brand new 999R engine. Therefore it's no surprise, that Marc had the most
impressive step-up with a fabulous 2:06. Within the V2 Race he passed 7 riders
and finished the race in 15th position.
Steve started for the first time in his life in a GP2 race (14 rounds instead
of 8 in the V2 race) and..... missed the start of the race. So he had to start
from the paddock in last position (48th!!). He was able to make it to 24th
place in the end showing us the tremendous power of his new engine (and
Steve, of course).
Within the V2 race Steve received the first trophy for the Team in this
season for a 10th place finish. Congratulations !!!
All in all it a beautiful race weekend ended in sunny Spain, and the RoPa
Racing team is ready to start the ESC in Brno.
Let's go racing!!
